Located at 552 Jones St, San Francisco, CA 94102, Ox & Tiger operates as a filipino restaurant serving San Francisco in California. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as japanese restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In San Francisco, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
Hours are published for 4 days a week. On most of those days it is open 5β9:30 pm. It is closed on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (415) 992-3827. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, oxandtiger.co.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.9 out of 5 from 117 reviews, which is a strong result for a filipino restaurant in San Francisco and suggests consistent service.
San Francisco is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Francisco follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I love how innovative Ox & Tiger is. Who Hitomi and EJ seem to be and what they love translates through the food. This dinner was three courses + an add on. 100000% get the add on. It made me nostalgic for dishes Iβd never had lol. Octopus so tender it made me wanna cry We also tried a βhoppedβ sake that Iβve never had before (flower rice?). As someone whoβs had their fair share of sake, this was something different. Truly a lovely little experience. Hitomi and EJ felt easy to share a space with. We canβt wait to go back when weβre in town <3

Delicious Filipino inspired food and good service. Three kitchen is on full display, so it could be neater since it's all you look at during the service.

The menu is always so inventive and the stories Chef EJ & Chef Hitomi share will leave you with a fuzzy feeling in your heart. I love the cozy, thoughtfully-decorated space also. Thereβs only 8 bar seats but it feels lively because they also have a great playlist curated by the Chefβs brother. I live with anticipation for my dinner reservations here, because they do fully book out quickly and the food is really that good. All the stars!

One of a kind experience! My wife and I truly enjoyed ourselves that night as we celebrated her birthday. The vibes, the food, and the shared laughter will be a memory we will hold for life. Thank you Ox and Tiger for sharing your love with us.

A great Filipino-Japanes restaurant run by a very nice Filipino-Japanes couple, EJ and Hitomi. It only has 8 seats and fixed course menu so reservation is necessary. The whole experience is awesome. The food was just incredible, perfect texture and excellent flavors. The seating area is located just in front of the kitchen area, so you can see how the meals are prepared, and the meals are served by the chefs themselves. Then, EJ tells a detailed and interesting story about how that particular dish was inspired. Three course menu is more than enough to fill you up, and they also offer sake pairing as an option. Not only the food is great, the owners are very nice people. It happened to be my birthday when I visited (not that I came there to celebrate, but just happened to be there on my birthday), so they prepared a candle in my dessert and sang happy birthday and then even took a picture with me and gave me a signed card. That was very touching. The whole experience was so impressive, in terms of food, presentation and overall ambience, that I will for sure remember this dinner. Thank you, EJ and Hitomi ^_^
